ForageMate ("we", "our", or "the app") is a community-powered foraging map. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Email address and display name when you create an account (via email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple).
• Location data: Your approximate location when you add a foraging spot to the map. We store suburb/area only — not your precise GPS coordinates — to protect your privacy.
• User-submitted content: Foraging spot details including plant descriptions, access notes, photos, and ripeness reports you voluntarily submit.
• Usage data: Basic app usage information to improve the service.
• Push notification tokens: To send you foraging-related notifications if you opt in.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To display community foraging spots on the map
• To authenticate your account securely
• To send push notifications you have opted into
• To moderate submitted content for accuracy and community standards
• To improve the app experience

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers. Your submitted foraging spots are shared publicly within the app community. Your email address is never shown publicly.

We use Supabase (supabase.com) as our backend infrastructure provider, which processes data on our behalf under their privacy policy.

5. Photos

Photos you submit are stored securely and displayed within the app to help other users identify foraging spots. You retain ownership of photos you submit. We may remove photos that violate community standards.

6. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Profile screen within the app. Upon deletion, all your personal data is immediately and permanently removed from our systems, including your account, saved spots, comments, and notification preferences. Foraging spots you submitted are retained in anonymised form to preserve community data, but are no longer associated with your identity.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is immediately deleted as described above.

8. Children's Privacy

ForageMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. To exercise these rights, use the in-app account deletion feature or contact us at the address below.
