By using ForageMate, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. What ForageMate Is

ForageMate is a community-powered map where users share information about publicly accessible foraging spots — fruit trees, berry bushes, nut trees, herbs, and other edible plants on public land.

ForageMate is a community information tool only. It is not a food safety authority, botanical identification service, or land access authority.

3. User Responsibilities

• You must only submit spots that are genuinely on publicly accessible land. Do not submit spots that require trespassing on private property.
• You are responsible for independently verifying plant identification before consuming anything found using this app.
• You must submit only accurate information to the best of your knowledge.
• You must not submit false, misleading, or harmful information.
• You must be 13 years of age or older to use ForageMate.

4. Critical Safety Warning

NEVER consume any plant or fungi solely based on information in this app. Incorrect plant identification can cause serious illness or death. Always verify identification using multiple authoritative sources and consult an expert when in doubt. ForageMate and its contributors accept no responsibility for harm resulting from foraging activities.

5. Community Content

All foraging spots are user-submitted and community-moderated. We review submissions before they appear publicly, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any submission. Spot information may be outdated, incorrect, or incomplete. Always verify conditions on the ground.

6. Intellectual Property

By submitting content to ForageMate (including photos and descriptions), you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display that content within the app. You retain ownership of your content.

7. Prohibited Conduct

• Submitting false or misleading spot information
• Submitting spots that require trespassing
• Harassing other users
• Attempting to circumvent moderation systems
• Using the app for any unlawful purpose

8. Disclaimer of Liability

ForageMate is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any harm, injury, illness, property damage, or other loss arising from use of this app or from foraging activities. Foraging carries inherent risks that you assume entirely.

9. Land Access

Users are solely responsible for ensuring they have the right to access any location shown on the map. ForageMate does not verify land ownership or access rights. Trespassing is illegal — always confirm you are on public land before foraging.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from within the app.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of ForageMate after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
